Produit scalaire dans un repère orthonormé


Dans un repère orthonormé, si $\overrightarrow{u}(x;y)$ et $\overrightarrow{v}(x';y')$ on a:
$\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{v}=xx'+yy'$

Orthogonalité


Pour tous vecteurs $\overrightarrow{u}$ et $\overrightarrow{v}$ non nuls, on a:
$\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{v}=0 \Longleftrightarrow \overrightarrow{u}$ et $\overrightarrow{v}$ sont orthogonaux.
On peut utiliser le repère orthonormé $(A;\overrightarrow{AB};\overrightarrow{AD})$ pour calculer $\overrightarrow{EC}.\overrightarrow{AG}$
On considère le repère orthonormé $(A;\overrightarrow{AB};\overrightarrow{AD})$.

On a alors $A(0;0)$, $B(1;0)$, $D(0;1)$ et $C(1;1)$.
Si on note $x$ la longueur du côté du carré $BEFG$, on a également $E(1+x;0)$ et $G(1;x)$.
$\begin{cases} x_G-x_A=1-0=1\\ y_G-y_A=x-0=x \end{cases}$ donc $\overrightarrow{AG}(1;x)$
$\begin{cases} x_C-x_E=1-(1+x)=1-1-x=-x\\ y_C-y_E=1-0=1 \end{cases}$ donc $\overrightarrow{EC}(-x;1)$
$\overrightarrow{EC}.\overrightarrow{AG}=1\times (-x)+x\times 1=0$
$\overrightarrow{EC}$ et $\overrightarrow{AG}$ sont orthogonaux

Méthode vectorielle:
$\overrightarrow{EC}.\overrightarrow{AG}$
$=(\overrightarrow{EB}+\overrightarrow{BC}).(\overrightarrow{AB}+\overrightarrow{BG})$
$=\overrightarrow{EB}.\overrightarrow{AB}+\overrightarrow{EB}.\overrightarrow{BG}+\overrightarrow{BC}.\overrightarrow{AB}+\overrightarrow{BC}.\overrightarrow{BG}$
Or $\overrightarrow{EB}$ et $\overrightarrow{BG}$ sont orthogonaux donc $\overrightarrow{EB}.\overrightarrow{BG}=0$
et $\overrightarrow{BC}$ et $\overrightarrow{AB}$ sont orthogonaux donc $\overrightarrow{BC}.\overrightarrow{AB}=0$
On a donc:
$\overrightarrow{EC}.\overrightarrow{AG}$
$=\overrightarrow{EB}.\overrightarrow{AB}+0+0+\overrightarrow{BC}.\overrightarrow{BG}$
$=EB\times AB\times cos(\pi)+BC\times BG\times cos(0)$
$=- EB\times AB+BC\times BG$ car $cos(\pi)=-1$ et $cos(0)=1$
$=- EB\times AB+AB\times EB$ car $BC=AB$ et $BG=EB$
$=0$
$\overrightarrow{EC}$ et $\overrightarrow{AG}$ sont orthogonaux
