$ABC$ et $ACD$ sont deux triangles rectangles respectivement en $B$ et en $D$ tels que $BC=5$cm, $AC=6$cm et $CD=4$cm
  1. Calculer $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CB}$

    Produit scalaire et projeté orthogonal

    Soit $A$, $B$ et $C$ trois points ($A$ et $B$ distincts) et $\overrightarrow{u}=\overrightarrow{AB}$ et $\overrightarrow{v}=\overrightarrow{AC}$.
    Si $H$ est le projeté orthogonal de $C$ sur $(AB)$:
    $\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{v}=AB\times AH$ si $\widehat{BAH}=0$ (soit $\widehat{BAC}$ aigu)
    et $\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{v}=-AB\times AH$ si $\widehat{BAH}=\pi$ (soit $\widehat{BAC}$ obtus)
    Utilser le projeté orthogonal de $A$ sur $(CB)$
    figure

    $ABC$ est un triangle rectangle en $B$ donc le projeté orthogonal de $A$ sur $(BC)$ est $B$ (l'angle $\widehat{ACB}$ est aigu).
    $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CB}=CB\times CB=CB^2=25$
  2. Calculer $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CD}$
    Utilser le projeté orthogonal de $A$ sur $(CD)$
    figure

    $ACD$ est un triangle rectangle en $D$ donc le projeté orthogonal de $A$ sur $(CD)$ est $D$ (l'angle $\widehat{ACD}$ est aigu).
    $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CD}=CD\times CD=CD^2=16$
  3. En déduire $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{BD}$

    Propriétés du produit scalaire

    Soient $\overrightarrow{u}$, $\overrightarrow{v}$ et $\overrightarrow{w}$ trois vecteurs et $k$ un réel:
    $\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{v}=\overrightarrow{v}.\overrightarrow{u}$
    $(k \overrightarrow{u}).\overrightarrow{v}=k(\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{v})$

    $(\overrightarrow{u}+\overrightarrow{v}).\overrightarrow{w}=\overrightarrow{u}.\overrightarrow{w}+\overrightarrow{v}.\overrightarrow{w}$
    On peut décomposer $ \overrightarrow{BD}= \overrightarrow{BC}+ \overrightarrow{CD}$
    $ \overrightarrow{BC}=- \overrightarrow{CB}$
    $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{BD}$
    $= \overrightarrow{CA}.( \overrightarrow{BC}+ \overrightarrow{CD})$
    $= \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{BC}+ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CD}$

    $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{BC}$
    $= \overrightarrow{CA}.(- \overrightarrow{CB})$
    $=- \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CB}$
    $=-25$

    On a alors:
    $ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{BD}$
    $= \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{BC}+ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CD}$
    $=- \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CB}+ \overrightarrow{CA}. \overrightarrow{CD}$
    $=-25+16$
    $=-9$
